Reference Plates

Reference Plate Wall

Reference Plates are the rigid backbone of a very efficient building technique using Datum Tooling Stations (DTS). Omni Reference Plates are available in standard sizes up to 30" x 60" and 36" x 36". Custom sizes are available in 3" increments. Multiple plates can be combined into even larger tooling surfaces. Reference plates have a unique hole pattern designed to hold any S75 or XTR base platforms. This pattern and Omni’s thru-hole doweling capabilities provide the means to quickly change fixtures on a common base. A Reference Plate system can be designed in vertical, horizontal, or special orientations and combinations. The largest Reference Plate system currently in use is 240" x 60" (as shown in the photo).

Datum Tooling Stations (DTS) consist of tooling towers built from various components on a single platform. A typical Datum Tooling Station would include a platform with at least one tower and whatever combination of location pads, clamps, and indicators/gauging equipment is deemed necessary to complete the task at hand. DTS are usually dedicated to a project through completion. They are then either dissembled or removed and left intact for later use with the same project.

Reference Plates can be joined to form larger tooling surfaces.
The Reference hole pattern can be machined into any gauge base for portable fixture systems.
